Appel à contributions : Ninth Quadrennial Italian Renaissance Sculpture Conference, University of Vermont, Burlington, 11 au 13 octobre 2020, date limite 1er mars 2020

Co-organized by Amy Bloch, SUNY Albany, and Kelley Helmstutler Di Dio, University of Vermont

The Ninth Quadrennial Italian Renaissance Sculpture Conference, known colloquially as “Provo-Athens,” will convene in Burlington, Vermont on October 11–13, 2020. The conference will provide a forum for the presentation of new research on Italian sculpture during the Renaissance – broadly defined as the period between ca. 1300 and ca. 1600 – and offer opportunities for the convivial exchange of ideas in more informal settings and contexts. Shelley Zuraw, Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Georgia, will deliver the plenary lecture.

The conference committee, which will select the papers to be included in the program, invites proposals for 20-minute papers that address Italian sculpture and sculptors – and any and all related issues – from ca. 1300–1600. The committee encourages scholars at all ranks to submit proposals.

Prospective speakers should send an abstract (no more than 250 words) as well as a CV to both of the following email addresses: ABloch@albany.edu and Kelley.DiDio@uvm.edu.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is March 1, 2020; notifications about acceptance of proposals will be sent no later than May 2020.

The conference is free and open to the public, but registration will be required.
