Exposition : “Paolo Veronese (1528-1588)”, Madrid, Museo del Prado, du 27 mai au 21 septembre 2025

This exhibition, sponsored by Fundacón AXA, marks the culmination of a project to study and reevaluate the Museo del Prado’s collection of Venetian Renaissance painting, one of the most important and finest in the world, following the exhibitions The Bassanos in Golden Age Spain (2001), Titian (2003), Tintoretto (2007) and Lorenzo Lotto. Portraits (2018). It will highlight the importance of Veronese in the Museum’s collection in the context of his influence in Spain and during the Golden Age, when his work was highly esteemed by monarchs and collectors.

The exhibition focuses on three main themes: Veronese’s creative process and the way in which he managed his studio, with an analysis of his works from his initial sketches to the execution of oil paintings in the bottega; his outstanding ability as a capobotega, surpassing even that of other great masters of the day such as Titian or Tintoretto; and his ability to represent the aspirations of the Venetian elites, reflected in his cosmopolitan style which attracted the attention of European courts.
