Personifications of the continents of Europe, Africa, Asia, and America abounded in Renaissance and Early Modern Europe. The monthly on-line journal La Rivista di Engramma. The Classical Tradition in Western Memory (www.engramma.it) is preparing a special issue (summer 2015) on Aby Warburg and theater.
